Depends on how old you are, I'm 13 and these are some of my favourite books.
Soldier Boys by Dean Hughes
The Young Royals series by Carolyn Meyer
Midnight Rider by Joan Hiatt Harlow
Summer of my German Soldier by Bette Greene
The true confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi
Rilla of Ingleside by L.M. Montgomery
My brother Sam is dead, not sure who wrote that one though...

Bernard Cornwell is good.
Anything by Neil Gaiman is good, especially Stardust.
I Am Legend, by Richard Matheson is the book the movie was based on, and its pretty awesome.
You should list some authors or titles that you like, and people will be able to give you examples of similar books.
