The baby can have any last name you want. He can have your last name, your boyfriend's, both, or neither. Being married won't effect anything when it comes to naming your baby, so don't worry. Good luck and congratulations!

I presume you are in the USA but here in England it is common place for the baby to take the fathers name, married or not. But it is the parents choice, no law as far a i know!!
However, i would say, i have just had a baby and my partner and i are not married (been together 10 years and not go round to it!!). Our daughter has his surname. It does feel a little sad to be the odd one out in the family but then again, if we finally do get married our daughter already has the correct name!!

You can give the baby the father last name. It does not matter what state you live in or whether you are married or not.

you can give the baby any name you want. I wasnt married when i had my daughter, the babys father was just my bf at the time and i gave her his last name. We're married now, but it doesnt matter what name you give the baby, if your not married.

My understanding is that the baby has to have your last name if you are not married. You can however hyphenate the last name.
"his last name-your last name"
However, I'd double check in your state. It could be different. Call your local court house and ask the clerk.
