Im 34 weeks pregnant, I was having really bad pressure in my pelvic area the other night and my fiance and I headed to the hospital to make sure it was nothing serious. Come to find out, I was in labor. My contractions were 2-4 minutes apart and her head was right there to where the doctor could feel it. For some reason the nurse took two fingers and pushed her head back up in my stomache. She didnt tell me what she did until after she did it. I was pretty pissed off at that point because I highly doubt they were supposed to do that. I was going to have that baby, she was ready to come out or else my cervix wouldnt have opened. So they stopped my labor and sent me home having mild contractions and told me to come back if they got worse. I went and got checked this morning and Im dilated a finger tip according to the doctor. She is ready to come out, so why prolong it?? I really think they have my due date messed up because they told me she was fully developed. what should I do??

Uh you need to see another doctor. OBGYNS are crap. I personally dont trust them.

My last OBGYN closed her practice towords of my pregnancy and I couldnt find a new doctor because of my insurance. My baby ended up dying a week before her due date. She had her cord wrapped around her neck and a knot in it. If my OBGYN had stayed open and performed the regular sonograms like I needed that would have been caught but I had to go without care until it was too late.

Go see a midwife. Even for one visit. They are soooo much more smarter than OBGYNs, much more helpful. Theyre whole lives revolve around babies and moms, not money.

35 weeks is not too soon to have your baby!!

Okay, this question was asked by me. I made another account because I accidentally used someone elses email address and couldnt access the password. Some of your answers were completely wrong!! For the person that called me an idiot, I was in active labor..the contractions were 2-4 minutes apart and her head was down there. They told me that they felt her head and to prolong the labor they had to push it back up. Thats why it hurt me so bad. Then today when I went back for a check-up..the nurse told me her head was back down. She must be ready to come out or she wouldnt have dropped back down. Im no expert on babies trust me, but something just doesnt seem right. I would never do anything to put my daughters life in danger!! I know the longer the better but sometimes they can screw your due date up and that baby will come when she is ready. I dont think its right to try and stop mother nature from happening. Not all babies that are born preemie have to spend a week in the NICU..it all depends on what has developed and how much they weigh. Every baby is different and everyone has a different labor and delivery experience. I just need some advice on what I should do as far as the doctor pushing on her damn head!! Should I be concerned?? I have never even heard of them prolonging labor by pushing her head back up in the womb.

Thanks for all the comments people!!!

I know this post is really old but I look at all this and the way they talk and how rude they are!! Having a full term baby doesn't mean is going to be healthy.... I was pregnant with twins my babies were ready to be born at 35 weeks naturally and the stupid doctor told me I need to wait so they put me in bed rest, when I was 37 weeks I could wait anymore head to the hospital and after fighting with the doctors I got admit with 7cm my fist son was born healthy but the other baby die at 35 weeks because the doctor didn't want me to deliver before my due date... We all know our body and if the baby wants to come out early it's ok I'm pregnant with my third child and I'm already at 34 weeks and so ready for her to come when she wants not when a doctor says

There is a way to induce a labor, my professor in college has been a woman's doctor for over 30 years. He has tried this on many of his patients. You can do it or your spouse can do it for you, but all you have to do is rub your nipples a week before you want to give birth. I personally think you should wait a little longer, if your doctor told you to, but when your doctor says its okay to do something to induce than try that. Ask your doctor, and he will tell you that it is possible to induce labor that way. I have asked different doctors and they all told me the same thing.

The only way they can know if she is fully developed is if they do an ultrasound right now. I think it's best to wait about 2-3 more weeks before having the baby. At this point your baby could be premature and you don't want that. I know what it's like to have contractions like that i'm 39 weeks and have had them for 3 weeks now. THey wouldn't stop them and wouldn't induce me. Good luck

Babies lungs at 34/35/36 weeks are still developing surfactant which is necessary for them to breath after they leave your body.
I couldn't imagine leaving the hospital without my baby. I know how hard waiting is, but think about what is best...it's really not that much longer now and the wait is worth it... before you know it you will be a Mommy and the job NEVER ends. Hang in there and be patient.
