Talk to a pharmacist about which condom would be your best choice. I would not have sex with someone that had HIV, because its always possible the condom could break. I have known people that had relationships with HIV+ partners and never got the disease. Talk to your new man about your concerns - if he's a good guy, he should be wanting to have a conversation anyway, not just expect you to have sex.

my sister dated her hiv positive ex-boy friend for almost 2 years. she did have protected sex with him, for the most part.
One time the condom broke, and she got pregnant.
Thank god she had a misscarrage after 2 months. (she was only 20)
she got tested, and thank god has been hiv negitive everytime.
She sill gets tested every 3months (she may have it, but its just dormant so it dosent show up on tests)
[[this was 3 years ago.]]
now she has a new serious boyfriend and there is a good chance she can pass hiv onto him, even though it may be dormant in her self.
so now he gets tested every 3 months with her as well.
honestly, its a whole big process.
and it has ruined her life.
the lady at plan parenthood told her that even if the condom didnt brake, she still has a very high chance of getting hiv.
Just be careful.

If I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that that person was going to be the ONLY person I was going to be with from that day on....yes.

Edit: It is better to know than not know.
How about this...If you DIDN'T know someone was HIV positive would you use a condom and have "SAFE SEX"?

...because that is literally what you are doing everyday! I'm a nurse and treat ALL patients the same, whether I know they are HIV positive or not. It's the ones you don't know about that can kill you. Wise up, people!

NO, the only completely safe sex is no sex. Condoms can break. Doing this would be no different than playing Russian roulette with a loaded gun.

I wouldn't.

A few years ago, I was listening to the Doug Banks show -http://www.dougbanksshow.com - and he posed that as the monring question with a twist - what if it was your favorite star who was HIV positive. Would you have sex with him/her? Most of the people who called in said they would. :^(

No, I wouldnt have sex with that person at all. Condoms arent 100% effective, its too big of a chance to take.

If i truly loved that person then yes but not for some fling.

I do know people with HIV with partners that are not infected that have very healthy and active sex lives.
