To continue with your analogy, the heart must be the place where blood is pumped to other places that cannot function without it... With this in mind, blood must represent something outside of your analogy. I think it is love.
In answer to your question, the heart can take any form at all; love can be discovered through any situation and from the beauty exhibited by a variety of things. Therefore the heart is the world itself, because it enables us to discover love by influencing us in whatever way, and we spread this to people and places who are devoid of it. =oD

Wel actually you're speaking of nothing too new. Sociological philosophers have often used the model of the human body to understand and to demonstrate the essential functions and patterns of a macro view of people. But what should be understood is by useing that model a hand, for example, could represent any number of things. The law, the infistructure workforce, the policy makers, the earth moveing equipment, etc. Just because you can make these things metaphorically represented by another thing does not call to action anything. It's the same world it was before you made the correlation haveing no more need for attonement than before. So to continue with this reasoning the hear, as you specificcally asked, could be financial institutions, stock markets, ocean currents, the ice caps, the aristocratic economic breeding circles that produce our world leader, deisel engies, auto manufacturers, the center of the earth, the magnetic ple of iron to the right of canada where our magnetic field springs and all compasses point towards, etc. The heart exists no more than the renin angiotensis sytem that monitors and controls our blood pressure and effects how much we pee. The heart is whaterver you'd like to poetically describe it as.

There are bad spots in the whole unit called the world. Some areas are in war and decay. Some areas are productive. If there is a heart or single brain I don't know it. We are after all just living a preplanned life and controlled from the other side . We don't need to unite but we all need to grow in tune with the powers on the other side of creation. Just knowing that there is guidance available makes life easier. Only when we are removed from the busy interface with friends and family can we get where you are now...deep in thought.

Last time I checked, bone marrow nourished the system by creating new cells to replace the old...
People, as a whole, certainly don't do that. We're more like germs or bacteria. Constantly growing unchecked until stronger germs take us out.

I think the heart of the world in your scenario is all the worlds natural cycles. We've changed things a bit with our human activities here, but some cycles happen irregardless of our activities. And we haven't been paying attention long enough (because historical records don't go back that far really) to know what is happening naturally and what is being affected by our activities. But now that our attention is on it we're beginning to understand about the various cycles that go on, how they work, what could upset them and what we can or can't do about it.

World = body
people = bone marrow
sea = blood
land = bones
mountains = farms to grow the nourishment
rain = water for nourishment
so taking care of the stuff is the job of us all.
The analogy breaks down if made into too great detail.
Go "green and organic everyone."

the heart is basically the will of every single person in the world. with the wars that are raging, the world is not being nourished- it is being poisoned.
if a person has strong will, then they are more likely to accomplish a task. if a person has weak will, then they are less likely to accomplish a task. only 2% of the worlds population has strong enough will to accomplish the task of nourishing the world.

i doubt that if the world was one body the people would be the bone marrow for the blood to be good in order to flow seeing as people are cruel.

Man does not live on bread alone... I think the heart of the world can be seen on a warm summer day with the flowers in bloom and the willows in sway. It's the green song that lives and breaths what we exhale and gives back to us sweet blossoms smell...:)

When i first studied cancer, i couldn't help but be reminded of the current economic system. Without function, intrusive, invasive and not related to the needs of the body.
Be careful what you wish for though. The body expects every cell to do its duty. If a cell is told to kill itself, that's exactly what it will do. There's no room for mercy or individual rights inside the body.
