Or is that a thing of the past? I graduated in '03, but even then notes weren't too popular among all my friends.

If yes, do they still wrap them in special ways before handing them to a friend?

Yeah, people can still send notes, but no, they aren't that popular. Some fold the notes in those different ways, but most of the time it's like ~*fwap!* i'll throw this piece of paper at you. read it!~ lol.

Yes, as a high school teacher I know that this is still a common practice. The special folding is for when notes are to be given to someone outside of the classroom. But in the class, students usually use a notebook that is passed back and forth to make it look like they are sharing classwork notes or content and not just social "notes".

I would imagine that they send text messages to each other now. I know most schools don't allow cell phone but i'm pretty sure that kids now a days know how to text without even looking at the phone because i can. Oh and I graduated in '03 too. That was the best year!

Yes, high schoolers definitely write notes. I am a teacher and believe me, they write notes. Many of them are wrapped in special ways. Students even disguise their notes as spinners, cooty catchers, paper airplanes, and other things made from paper. I have found plenty of love notes, hate notes, friendship notes, class is boring notes, etc folded this way. Some high school boys even write "Will you go out with me...Circle yes or no?"

I was a note fanatic,I 'm talking paper folding, picture drawing, nicknames, private notebooks. The whole thing. I think I spent more time writing notes then studying. I graduated 2001.

A lot of people still do that in my high school--even the special way they wrap them and pass them off to friends.
I sometimes do it too.

yea they still do, and sometimes they color on them to signafy whether the note is important and whatnot
Well tht's at least wht people do at my school

We fold it into a square, triangle, or rectangle. and then color on it (both sides)
Blue- bored and need someone to talk to
Red-Love note
Black-seceret
Green- making plans for party, sleepover, etc.
Purple- for how did it go last night?
Orange- hate note (when u r backstabbing or just being the common enemy).

Don't ask why we do this it's just fun.

My high school kid doesn't send notes, nor do any of his friends, it's all text messaging now. He says there is less chance of being caught.
