Ok my son is 6 and a half months old and not last night but the night before at midnight he woke up and had puked everywhere. Well yesterday till like 6 in the morning that is all he did. He puked up bile and was dry heaving. well I got 8 oz of Pedilyte... not all at once down him. Then about 5ish he held down a4 oz bottle. well now today he doesn't want to eat and he has diareha(SP).Oh and I took him to the Ped. yesterday and he said to just keep up with the Pedilyte. Well now he doesn't want anything. Should I take him back in or should I wait a bit and see if he eats some later. And yes I am a first time mother and I have no idea what to do

I would give it a day or so its a bad bug but if hes doing thihs for 3-4 days take him back, as long as you can keep something in his belly and no fever theirs really nothing the Dr can do, its hard but i thats what i do!

Call the ped. office right away and let the doctor know that your son is refusing all liquids. He will probably want you to bring your infant back in right away. A 6 and a half month old baby can dehydrate very quickly and dehydration is a serious issue especially with an infant (it can stress the kidneys and heart).
When you saw the doctor yesterday your son was drinking (Pedilyte)--today he is not--this is a drastic change from yesterday.

Well he's pooping, and thats good. He's flushing out all the "bad" stuff. As long as he's getting at least a little fluid today he'll be fine. It's normal. Give him a nice bath, and try some more Pedilyte. If he's not feeling, or eating any better by morning I'd call your doctor, but as of now nothing to worry about!

Unless you want to spend the night in the ER, call the doctor. I say that for this reason, you fell that is something else needs to be done. So you are not going to be happy until something is. Normal for a mommy. We would all be happier if you went to the Dr's office today or tomorrow than the ER over the weekend.

And the other lady is right, if he is refusing fluids, that can be a problem.

I agree with the first answerer too. My rule of thumb is three days. If he's not better (eating or drinking a bit more and the diarrhea has lessened) in 3 days (total) then call the pediatrician and/or go to the hospital. Good luck!

I agree w/ your first writer. Give it another day or two. If he continues to not want to eat, offer him at least the pedialyte and see how he does. This will at least keep fluids in his body. He may just have a virus making him ill.
If the ped still does nothing for him after a few days, get a 2nd opinion.
Good luck. Keep us posted.

If he is still not eating or drinking by tomorrow morning I'd call and just let them know he seems worse..Its probably viral but he can still get dehydrated..Keep an eye on his diapers and keep track of how many wet ones he has...Hope he feels better soon..

Please take him to the hospital, dont wait to long. If youve tried whatever you think you can do, and it doesnt work, take him. I hate the hospital and the emergency room, but if i cant make my children feel better and its getting worse, i take them to the hospital. take all the medicine and drinks you have been giving him with you because they will ask.
