There used to be a Beth-El Hospital in New York; they changed the name to Brookdale.

Beth-EL or Bethel means house of god. In the Beth-El form it is used as the name of many Jewish congregations. I have never heard it used as a persons name.

You mostly find this name with people with Christian background and apparently Jewish. Beth-el is mentioned in the Old testament for sure. It means the house of God. I know a teenage called Beth-el whose parent's are followers of the Ethiopian Orthodox church.

I have heard of Beth-el pronounced and spelled as Bethel.
"Bethel Leslie" a noted actress.
Beth-el is a name given to a synagogue, or the members of that synagogue.
