If he says no, he pisses off the Christian right. If he says yes, he pisses off the moderates. He did exactly what he needed to do to keep both sides satisfied and have a chance to win the nomination. And yes, he is politicing.

first, I think Oriely was **** for asking this question and I feel his supporters should let him know they do not appreciate this kind of conduct,
second, don't you think Huckabee answered the question in a right manner, he did not want to be overly P,C at the same time he felt he was not in the business of telling people where they were going to spend eternity, I am not a Huckabee fan, but I certainly respect the mans position and answer, however the bible specifically says there is only one way to enter Heaven, and that is to accept Christ as your personal savior and confess your sins, ask for forgiveness,
now we have some idiots who claim they don't believe in god?? yet when the **** hits the fan and they are in despair they always ask god for help, and protection, as a combat Marine I won't try to count the times I have witnessed this,
as for the dipsticks who say that so manywars were fought for religious reasons are about as dumb as a rock, just think about how G,W,B, got the war in Iraq started, ,W,M,D, or bilogical weapons??? the same thing was did to those people that G,W,B, pulled on America, all wars are fought to gain land or treasure, how can anyone say religion causes war with the exception of the Muslim or Jewish religion, no other religion teaches their people to kill .lie, cheat, or steal from others every other religion teaches its followers to be kind , helpful and just be nice to every one ,if every one practiced these teachings we would not have a war nor police or so called justice departments, think of how nice that would be no prisons and just look at the money that would be saved,

He is trying to get elected president, not save souls. Answering the question truthfully and lying would both alienate potential voters.
By the way, I consider myself a Christian, but I don't think you have to accept Christ to get into heaven. I believe the basic tenets of all legitimate religions are essentially the same, so living by those tenets will still lead you to paradise in the afterlife no matter how you identify yourself.

He doesn't want to say that he thinks non-Christians are going to hell. Though, Huckabee is a fundamentalist and like Falwell he believes that unless you are a born again Christian you are a failure. What a douche.

I cannot believe that in the United States of America religion has become a main topic in politics. Religion will be the downfall of the world. Religion makes people believe that they are better then everyone else, it gives them a conceit that tries to force people to believe in only their religion. It causes wars over holy land, terrorists that want to kill people who don't believe what they believe. It makes people believe that they can do anything in the name of God. I used to think religion did more good than harm but I don't believe it anymore.

I watched it. I'm not a Huckabee supporter, but in fairness, he said that Jesus was the only way HE knew of to be saved.

He answered the question. He said it was not for him to decide what another person believes or how they thought they would get to heaven. He said it was the only way he was aware of to get there.
