from what I have seen and read "n-i-g-g-a" seems to be popular. but God help you if you don't say it quite right and you are not black.

LOL! YA is so funny, I just spell checked this and it recommended "n-i-g-g-e-r" in place of "n-i-g-g-a" and you know that they would have censored the correction!
Funnier still, they censored "n-i-g-g-a" without the hyphens

For most of American history, the white ruling establishment came up with the names used for African Americans. Hence, we have n_____, *****, colored, boy, sambo, and black. Along with this, African Americans were always taught that Africa was a backward, inferior place, and therefore they were inferior also.

Over the last 60+ years, there has been a real effort by black people to celebrate their African history and culture. While many people still consider themselves "black," many others celebrate the term "African American."

The term is not some new fad, but rather is a celebration of one's culture and history that's been around since the 1980s.

What makes you think African American will "fall out of fashion". It's not a fad, it describes an origin of a race of people. Maybe you have never heard the terms Native American, Asian American and Hispanic American. Unless the US government decides to stop letting people in the country the term African American will exist. What is your deal?

I say "black." maximum black human beings i be attentive to say "black." the sole time all and sundry says "African American" is while they're on sturdy Morning u.s.. I advise, I do comprehend why this term has developed, and that i comprehend the history it is happening, and the actuality that "black" has replaced different words that are relatively now no longer perfect, and probably sometime "black" will connect the ranks of words like "colored," which make human beings balk as we communicate. i think of it behooves us all to be fairly mushy to those adjustments, and not in elementary terms brush aside all of it as computing device thuggery. yet i do no longer think of we are there yet with "black."
