No The swift boat vets were out to try to set the record straight on Kerry but thanks to the media failing to give them any serious chance to voice their opinion, they never got a chance to be taken seriously.

Some of the swift boat vets served with Kerry, and so they had the credentials to speak about his military service. What they say might be true, but anyone connecting the dots can easily find that any vets that came on Kerry's side were his friends, and the ones against them had close ties to Bush. Any court of law would have thrown their testimony out as hearsay.

Still, it does leave a lingering question for Kerry as to what happened in Vietnam. Some of the vets claim he exaggerated his experience in Vietnam, and Kerry refuses to release his record. If he has nothing to hide, then what's he hiding?

They have no place in this election, unless anyone else served on a boat with them and has important information to share.

Don't see how they could, given the current crop of candidates. No one is out there bragging about their military record. McCain's experiences as a POW and in the military are public record and no one has ever come forward questioning them, and the rest of the candidates don't ever really even discuss any military service.

The Swift Boat Vets sure did help sink Kerry, though.

No but the regressive anti Democratic right will surely come up with tons of slander and lies about whoever the Democratic nominee is. That fact alone should be enough for Americans to realize they shouldn't take these far right claims serious. The American right lies, they want to win elections by any means necessary. It's not lying to them if they can prevent "a liberal" from becoming President.

Not unless another lying candidate with a military past verbally trashes his old unit, after selling them out by protesting with Hanoi Jane. I haven't seen that happen in this election, yet.

I do know that no one is paying my neighbor, a Vietnam veteran, to display the "Hanoi John" bumper sticker on his car.

Don't think so; I'd imagine it'd be hard to discredit someone who was a POW for 5 years.
