Im about to tile something but don't know how much space to allow for the shower door. is it like 1 1/2"?

1 1/2 " ,but normally you tile behind the shower door frame...

Um with no offense meant at all, ANY door I ever installed AFTER tiling, was installed OVER a fully tiled area.

If you have a Tub, you have approx. a 4 inch LIP/Top, and similar in just a shower Basin, above a floor level by 4 inches perhaps, allowing that the DOOR framing can be at any point on the width,,,,Often Centered.

Just my two cents, but to install first, and tile around, increases risk of eventual seepage, and/or regular maintenance in grouting or caulking at the point where the door BUTTS the tile. In any case the door framing should be installed first, if you go the way you suggest, THEN Tile to it.

JUST TILE IT THE GLASS MAN BUILDS THE SHOWER DOOR TO FIT THE TILED HOLE
