i have a 4 month old boy and my best friend just recently had a baby boy too who is now 3 months old.
I talked to her the other day about how her baby was doing
(she is in the navy and lives in washington now) and she said he is getting sooo big. He holds his bottle with a little support and can now roll over!!! my baby jacob hasnt rolled over yet and he definatley dosnt hold his bottle, he can grasp it but cant hold it up yet. i know its only a month different in age but is it ok that my baby hasnt rolled yet? He can support his head almost perfect and has alot of upper strength, he can sit with back support. just hasnt rolled over yet...
he has a dr. appt jan 30th so if he hasnt rolled by then, i will ask about it cause by then he will be almost 5 months.

I'm not seeing alot of difference in my 3+ month old. He's starting to grab things and put them in his mouth and he notices more colors now but he's not rolling over yet nor does he seem that he will any time soon. I think he'll be sitting by himself in the next month or so but not rolling over. All babies develop differently. Don't compare your baby so much to others. He'll roll over when he's ready! Just enjoy him now the way he is! He'll grow up fast enough.

I am going to give you the "generic" all babies develop at a different pace answer, because it is true...but I compare all the time =)
Soooooo, my 15 week old (3 and a half month) old will put her hand on the bottle now when I feed her (in no way hold it) and is not near a rolling over point. She will sit with almost no head support (though she gets a little wobbly after an extended period) and needs back support. She has not learned to reach out and grasp things she wants, but I can see the wheels turning in there like she wants to. I have tried putting her fingers around a rattle and she swings her arms but ended up smacking herself in the face with it =( She is right now loving anything to do with colors, lights, and noise. She is also at that point when I go out of her vision she will fuss if not occupied. She loves tummy time and is having a little trouble picking her head up far and for long periods when on her tummy though.
Anyway she is working on 4 months soon and sounds like yours. She has not attempted rolling...she prefers to just swing her arms and legs wildly. She will "stand" on her feet if I hold her on my lap.
Good Luck...don't they start to get "fun" at this age??

It is normal. Some baby's develop quicker then others. My baby was rolling over at 3 almost 4 months, but definatly not holding her own bottle. I would have to see this one to belive it. Your friend might just be trying to make you jealous. Don't worry about it. It will come, just keep on with that tummy time!

I wouldn't worry about it. My son is 6 months old and can barely hold his bottle upright. He started to roll over at about 4 months old but didn't start doing it regulary until about 3 weeks ago. I have 3 friends that have babies all within two weeks of my son and they are all doing things at different paces. For instance...my son started to stand on my lap at 2 months old and one of the other little guys hadn't started that yet at 4 1/2 months but he laughs and my son still doesn't!

He will be rolling over soon. My son was a preemie and he rolled over on his own at about 5 months corrected age (He was almost 3 months early) Don't compare your baby with others. Work with him during tummy time by placing him on his side with the top leg slightly forward. They will start to push themselves over. This is what my son's occupational therapist had me do with him and it worked great.

As a mommy, I can tell you from experience, don't let yourself get caught in that mindset. We've all done it...compared our children to our friend's children and what they do and don't do the same. Remember that all kids develop at different speeds. Yours may be quicker at some things later on than your friends baby. The mere fact that you're thinking this over is a sure sign you're very in tune with your child and his development and you're mommy instincts will kick in if there's any cause for alarm! Don't let comparisons and worry take away from enjoying your gift from God :)

greater advantageous than ninety 8% of persons who've HIV could try useful interior 3 months. In very uncommon circumstances, it ought to take in to six months for somebody to purpose useful. this could ensue if the guy's immune gadget is heavily broken before they get HIV. a lot of human beings, inclusive of a few docs, say a try at 3 months is conclusive. notwithstanding, i'm greater careful, and consistently propose checking out at 3 months and retesting at 6 months for a conclusive consequence. in case you try unfavourable 6 months after accessible exposure, you haven't any longer have been given HIV.

I wouldn't be too concerned unless he hasn't met other milestones, but everything I can find says rolling from front to back happens around 3-4 months.

However my son would ONLY roll from back to front on a soft bed and ONLY to get to the boob. So maybe its more a question of motivation than strength. Maybe you just need to make it interesting enough.

you cant compare two kids..each child reaches milestones at different times. your friends baby being able to roll over at 3 months is pretty early. normally a bay wont roll over till 4-5 months and normally only one way(back to tummy or tummy to back) my daughter didn't roll over till the 5th month, but she was crawling before most kids at 6 months and at 8 months was cruising. I recommend being patient and not to compare, tummy time exercise is great. you can also put him on his back and help him turn over, it will help his arm and leg muscles

Every baby is different. Some babies pick up on things a lot quicker than others, so they will start to do things faster than others. It's probably nothing. Don't worry about it till you go to the doctor.
