I'm afraid there is really nothing you can do. When you buy something used from a private seller, you are buying it "as is." Unless you signed a contract with them or can show that they promised you the XBox was in perfect working order and if it wasn't they would give your money back, your are out of luck. Next time you want to buy a used game system, go to a place like EB Games or GameStop and purchase the 1 year extended warranty with it. 1) They make sure the system is working before they sell it and 2) With the warranty, they will fix it or replace it.

With a private sale you have very little recourse unless you can prove in court (small claims should do) that they knew it was broken and sold it as working. Unless they specifically stated that they offer some sort or warranty, they are not obligated to provide one.

File a complaint so that the other party will be forced to reimburse you with the amount you paid for the defective items.

Really, nothing. Fighting is not the answer. Just brush it off as a 'lesson learned'. Next time, check, and make sure 'its' works.

If they didn't give you a warranty of any kind or make any false statements (that you can prove), then there isn't really anything you can do.

You can do nothing. Absolutely nothing. It is a buyer beware situation. Sorry.
