I was going to write several comments here regarding this tragic situation and the possible ramifications it might have on ethnic/political/religious tensions already running rampantly throughout the world, but HOPLITE2501 already beat me to it.
I will merely add to his eloquent answer by saying only that it is time that we as a WORLD - not simply a bunch of different nations - get over our childish differences and work together to eradicate terrorism wherever and for whatever reason it originates. Simply expressing our condemnation for such acts like today's assassination is not enough; we need to root out the troublemakers from whatever rock under which they are hiding and apprehend them. Their location is known by someone, but until these people share the information we as a world are going to be looking over our shoulders in a constant, fearful search as we await the next senseless act to be perpetrated upon us.
This murder is a tragic event for the WORLD, not simply for Pakistan, and it once more emphasizes the fact that until we band together and root out these insane militant extremists, none of us will ever truly be safe whether we are Muslim, Christian, or anything else.
At the same time, I am optimistic that one of these days enough of us are going to realize that infiltration and propaganda can be used as effectively as tools toward the eradication of these terrorist groups as they can be used to keep us all in fear, and implement these and other strategies.
It truly sounds corny to say something along the lines of "Citizens of the world unite!", but that is the only way we are ever going to put an end to this insanity....

It was a tragedy that will have ramifications throughout the world and in a nation that is already beset by political strife , ethnic tensions and will have a direct impact on America's war on terror.
The political vacuum will be filled with violence and disorder that has the potential to devolve into open anarchy .
I hope the world will appreciate the dangers of an upheaval rife with the distinct possibility of devolving into open hostilities that could result in nuclear warfare .
Only in retrospect will history be able to understand the full potential of this heinous act of assassination of a political leader that was capable of consolidating the different factions that will now seek to fill that void now left by the death of a remarkable lady .
My condolences to the family of Benazir Bhutto and to the families of the innocent who through no fault of their own must pay for the inconsiderate murder of other human-beings .

She was a visionary who dreamed of peace and democracy for her people...I admired her and was heartbroken when I heard the news today. I wish more people loved their country, people, and peace the way Ms. Bhutto did. My knee-jerk reaction was to blame Islam; it may have played a role, but I think it goes way beyond that. No matter the religion, greed and power can corrupt almost anyone...it is a sad day in history. My prayers are with her family and with Pakistan.
