... By the young men she attacked. One man was killed before police shot the tiger to death.

My question is this-- if it turns out that this tiger was, in fact, teased and taunted by these boys, shouldn't there be criminal charges filed against the surviving men? I mean, if it wasn't for them, this tiger would still be alive. So would their friend.

Thoughts?

I will be FURIOUS if it's found that these boys were teasing her. They absolutely deserved what they got, if this is the case. Harsh? Not at all. No pity for them-- only pity for the tiger.

Newman-- thank you for sharing the article. They're not giving as many details here in the U.S., so it's interesting to see what's being reported elsewhere.

I agree!
I was so upset when I heard that such cruel people were taunting her that way! :(

I think they should definitely press charges against those men! What an upsetting story that was to hear ....
:(

Zoo staff need to be more present in the future, to prevent stupid people like that from teasing these poor, captive animals ..... :(

From what I've read it seems to me that only the one guy did the teasing. There is no evidence that the THREE of them even knew each other or that the other two brothers had anything at all to do with the tiger getting loose.

It sounds to me like only the first guy (the one who was killed) did the taunting. The two brothers just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

But if it's found that they had something to do with the tiger getting lose, then yes, they should face criminal charges.

> howdy michr, remember on the time it the moat grow to be geared up , it grow to be as much as code. the recent standards have been replaced long after the Zoo grow to be geared up. Hens the clarification the Zoo did no longer could desire to comply. needless to say you haven't any longer been following this in view that Christmas. there grow to be a prior tiger attack a three hundred and sixty 5 days or so in the past there. the zoo grow to be inspected at that component to be sure if it grow to be as much as spec. It grow to be exceeded, although if now it appears that evidently grow to be incorrect. Zoo moats are actually not grandfathered in using age. If the zoo's own expert companies be sure the specs are upgraded, then all zoos improve their cages.

However, under Strict Liability in Tort, the zoo may be responsible for any damages.

People who taunt animals should be responsible. However,
the law would have to be changed to accomodate this condition.

All zoos should install security surveillance cameras.

All animal compounds and cages should have a live security guard standing by at all times with a tranquilizer gun, supervising the animals and visitors.

It appears that the Tiger jumped and caught the 17 year olds leg that was hanging over the wall. That could explain how the Tiger vaulted the wall which was 18 feet high.
Never antagonize a wild animal.

Animal cruelty is terrible, but it hardly deserves the death penalty. I agree that the boys were foolish and cruel to taunt the tiger, but they didn't "deserve" to get mauled and killed. They deserve to be punished by law - not by claw.
