He has to talk to his boss. Every work place is different about how much time they will allow anyone to take off. He will more likely be allowed to leave work once you go into labor. Unless his boss is heartless. Congratulations, enjoy your baby!

Just relax, babies know who their parents are. :) Think about military families... these parents are away from months at a time, and somehow, their kids grow up well adjusted. My mom was a Navy brat and her dad was gone often for more than a year, but she knew who he was. My dad was gone for 14 weeks at a time, but I knew him. My husband is now in the Navy and left when our son was 3 weeks old. He's now 5 months old, and having just been reunited, you bet that baby knows who daddy is! So just relax, your baby will know his dad. Get phone numbers that you can reach your hubby on at any time. Get an office number, a cell number, maybe a co-worker or boss's direct number too, so that if/when you go into labor, you can definitely reach your husband. Babies rarely come quickly, and I'm sure your husband will be able to make it to your baby's birth. Your husband will have weekends and mornings with you and the baby, so he can help out a little then. Make a routine that works for you both. Maybe you can sleep in during the mornings until your hubby has to leave for work. Your husband is only working a 40 hour work week. That's less than most people... even if it takes him an hour to commute, that only puts him out of the house for 50 hours a week. My husband works 60+, not counting commute time. Count yourself fortunate! Everything will work out just fine. :)

There's a nice little law that the federal government placed into effect a while back, FMLA.....Family Medical Leave Act. It REQUIRES companies to provide a minimum of 12 weeks leave....however the government has only stipulated that they must provide the 12 weeks leave, it is up to the company to decide if it (or any protion of it) is paid or unpaid or if they want to offer more time.
Here's the link: http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/fmla/
He should inform his employer as soon as possible that you are pregnant and the due date so that they don't think he is just wakling out on his job. This will enable the company to cover his work while he is gone. If the company does not pay for that time off, he can take sick time (if available) and vacation (again, if available) to offset some of the financial stress.
If they give him grief saying, why didn't you tell us in the interview...they are breaking the law. Pregnancy is considered a protected disability under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). He may want to keep the time off to a minimum but he has rights.

That is all a matter of company policy and will depend on his employer. If he is new then he needs to ask the HR dept. And he needs to tell his boss so this will not come as a shock when he does call them to say he is not coming in. There is the family mediocal leave act of course. But I would decide based on how they react to his questions-if they are nice and seem supportive then act accordingly but don't take advantage. If they roll their eyes and say he should have mentioned it in the interview then I would say keep the time off to a bare min (like day of delivery). Bummer I know but you don't want to be searching for a job right now.

Hey honey. Stop worrying so much. Everything will happen as it should. Just try not to worry.....as easy as it is for me to say, it will be hard for you I know.
As far as your husband's job....it really depepnds not on the state, but on the personability/graciousness of the boss. I would have him tell his boss that he is expecting and ask how much time off he'd get, etc. I'm sure the boss will have no problem, but there are always those people. Tell him to ask his boss as soon as tomorrow because for one, you never know when you could go in and for two, then you can stop worrying about one thing and move on to the next. :-)

Good Luck, Sweetheart.

Depends if he gets time off from his new job. He should check with his Human Resources department at work. It's not a requirement that he be given time off because you go into labor, or because you have a baby. You are entitled to the time off, but not necessarily Dad.

That is something he needs to discuss with the company he works for. Only they can tell him what they will allow in this case. There is the family law for leave but many factors have to be met.

It would all depend on the company... Some are quite nice and will allow him the day to be with you, others may not be so willing to let him just leave... You should have him inquire about it with his boss prior to any such things.

it depends on the employer. he should let him know NOW and not just head towards the door when you go into labor. if anything he should call in sick.

You should give this list of questions to your husband to ask his employer. Every place is different. A million people could give you a million answers and it doesn't mean that any of them is going to be right...
