Here's an interesting theory I put up. I believe that anyone born between the years of 1970 and 1990 should be members of what I call the "Starbucks Generation." Namely, it seems as if individuals born in this 20 yr. time span (myself included) seem to frequent Starbucks quite a bit.

1. Do you agree with my "theory?" If so, why? If not, then why not?

My second question is this. Caffiene, as we all know, is a drug. Interestingly enough, people do not consume caffiene to relax or unwind. Rather, they use it to stay alert before they "crash" a few hours later and start feeling sleepy again. It's in almost everything we consume; coffee, candy, tea, soda, etc. This brings me to my second question.

2. Are we a nation/world of caffiene addicts? Are our sleeping habits so bad that we need to rely on a Red Bull or two just to make it through the day (even if we do have good sleeping habits)? What are your thoughts on the long-term use of caffiene?

1. Yes I agree, even though I don't think I'm part of it (I hate coffee lol)

2. Yes, and it's sad. I try not to consume anything with caffeine such as tea, coffee, pop, or chocolate. Mainly to prevent acne but also because, like you said, it's a drug. It eats away at your body and causes weird things to go on in your head.

People in this world are too busy--that's why they "need" these caffeinated foods. Being awake 14 hrs. a day isn't enough time to get done what they need to get done. In my opinion, that's sad. If you're that busy that you need drugs to keep you awake just so you can live your life then you are TOO busy.

I try to avoid being that busy and I think if the rest of the world did the same we would all be happier.

I know people who joke that they "Can't live without their coffee". And although they say it in a joking manner, you'd be surprised at how many of them really would not be able to function without their daily trip to Starbucks.

We are a "go, go, go" world. I think it's a terrible way to live. This life goes by fast enough as it is without caffiene.

A persons body really does require 8 or 9 hours of sleep out of 24 to operate at its prime, unfortunately most people do not have enuf hours in a day to get every thing done so they jump start in the AM to get going, crash in 4 to 5 hours and need another fix, soda, tea, candy, is another quick fix that takes us anoher 4 to 6 hours...then crash starts and we carb up if not caffiene up to get thru the evening... and since most of us do not plow the field or ride the horse to town etc, we do not nescessarily fall into bed physically exhausted to go right to sleep and lose precious time getting to sleep and are the awakened by an alarm clock not mother nature and start the cycle over again.
as for being the Starbucks generation I agree only in that we used to get our coffee at home or at the diner, the coffee thing is way older than 20 years more like 50 or even more, the cowboy out on the range and the wagon trains west all woke up to a stiff pot of boiled strong coffee....
Caffiene as with anything when used in moderation is fine for our health, if the current generation and the couple of generations before you are tired it is poor sleep habits, not enough physical labor and to little time to devote to absolute sleep. For a Mother her last god nights sleep starts when baby is born and she may be a great grand mother before waking up to check on some one or some thing stops.....

thinking about it just ruins it for me. all i know is i love love love caffiene, drink lots of coffee coke & tea, eat tons of chocolate & love to do whatever i have in order to not fall asleep, although i usually get 8 hours a night. without caffeine i could sleep 18 hours a day, but sleep seems such a waste of time for me!
