if the door won't latch, try this

with the door open look about 1/2 way down the door where it closes to the latch. you'll see a cut-out with what will look like a hook with a hole in the middle. the cutout will have an open "U" side at the inside sheet metal of the door where the post side of the latch slides into the latch on the door.Get a phillips head screwdriver or a pen and put the tip of the screwdriver into the hole in the hook. then, use one hand to pull up on the exterior door latch as you push the screwdriver in towards the inside of the car. (make sure the door is unlocked first)

That will open the latch and the door should then close and lock normally.

Hope that helps

I had a similar problem on an earlier Accord. You could slam the door as hard as you could and it would bounce back open. Turns out all that was required to fix it was a small rubber part that pops on easliy on the latching mechanism. Compare your good door latch with the one giving you the problem. Do you see where there is a little black rubber part, about a half inch long, missing? Shouldn't cost more than $2.00. But, ya never know.

Go to a junkyard and get a replacement latch
