Are the Grateful Dead Jews?

Why on earth would you think that? My husband and I worked for them from 1969 until 1980 and remained within the GD scene until 1995 when Jerry died. I don't remember any of the band members discussing religion and I know that none of them were Jewish except for Mickey Hart who was not a practicing Jew.
