There's one potential effect which none of the media "experts" has covered. It is considered to be a sinful act in Islam to murder a woman as a political act. I'm waiting to see what the Muftis, Imams and the members of the Organized Islamic Conference say about this. I believe this may have been one of the stupidest acts carried out yet by the Hirabah who follow the likes of Bin Laden and their ilk. Far worse than their adherence to "Takfir" which says it's O.K., in the carrying out of Jihad, for Muslim to kill Muslim. The backlash among the Umma could prove fatal to any degree of support the Hirabah might enjoy.

The result will be more violence and killings. Her return to Pakistan was supported by the USA - which represents another huge mistake by the Bush Administration. The result is destabilization of Pakistan which was already having Political problems.
