OK, she's not even legal yet. That's a touchy situation!!
But I think that if two people love one another, are of legal age and are sure of what they are getting into, it's really no one else's business.
True love and happiness come around so few times in our lives that we should grab it each and every time it comes.

About 25

She is underage, she can legally see men who are 18, not older (but this also depends on the state you live in). When she turns 18, age wont be an issue, she is allowed to date any men who are also over 18. But with that being said, she should still be careful, because men who are 'considerably older' shouldn't be dating someone underage ( she is jail-bait!). If he is 21 or younger, it isn't that bad they are still relatively around the same age, but if he's older, then theres something you should be concerned about, why cant he find someone his age? does he really like her or does he have other motives...these are a few things you should think about.
And young teens are impressionable and easy to manipulate and easy to take advantage of. So keep an eye out and talk to your sister and talk to her boyfriend if you can...and if possible raise the issue with someone else in your family.

I should also mention, that if this relationship lasts, and if they were much older, age should not have be an issue, my parents are 7 years apart and they are happy (i strongly believe two people can love each other no matter the age difference). However, SHE is underage, and for now, age does matter!

Good luck!

As one gets older, the age gap is much less important. It depends largely on the maturity (or immaturity) of the individuals involved. If your sister at 17 is dating a man at 25, I think that may be a little too old, since she is legally not yet considered an adult and any improper activity can be against the law.

I dont think that she should be dating anyone older than 20, since 3 years is the statutory limit, at least in my state.

It really depends on the age. My parents had a 5 year gap, but they started dating at 27 and 32 - not much of a difference.

For 17, I'd say a year or two older at the most.

Another thing to think about: Legally, an adult having sex with a minor may be considered statutory rape (details vary by state). But the older "boy" friend could be convicted of rape and be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.

I think alot depends on individuality... although at 17 I would say she would be best sticking with somebody nearer her own age but there again... is she a mature 17? What do you call considerably older? If she IS a mature 17yo, then I would possible go to late 20s max age limit... I am sure others will disagree but in the end it is her life... if she is happy then let it be... But.... be on hand should it look as if it will end in tears :)

Depends on the maturity of the person in question. But speaking as a mother of a 17 year old I'd say not much older than herself.

I don't think chronological age is very important at all after 25 or so, but that is young. At 17- very early 20's is as far as it would make sense if they are both at typical maturity levels and positions in life. Even if she is 'very mature' and he is 'young at heart' I would truly question the motivations of a 30 + year old dude chasing a minor. It would be a bit creepy.

i'm fifty 5, male, and that i could evaluate courting a woman from 40 to 70, that's 15 years the two way. youthful, older, makes no difference. it truthfully relies upon on the guy and the chemistry between us. case in point, I went out with a 24 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous recenty, and it grow to be large. by applying the sam token I went out with a sixty seven 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous and it grow to be the two large.!

Personally, I think the cut off age-gap should be 3 years. Anything over that is too old for me.

I think the oldest her boyfriend should be is 19, because she is so young already.
