That way they can take away our time to rest and keep us overworked to perpetuate our slavery. Look at how places do not give Christmas off and if you do take Christmas off you are penalized for it. What are your thoughts on this?

It's difficult at the best of times to discern what the "government" wants. They have so many hidden agendas. Most government officials in high ranking positions are more concerned with how they can "feather their own nest", instead of how they can help ordinary tax paying citizens.I'm not implying that they're all that way,but the vast majority are "looking out for number one."
Now,corporations on the other hand only care about one thing, and one thing only. And that is the "bottom line" or how much money did they, or can they make.Of course they answer to the shareholders whose only interest is also making money and lots of it.Are you starting to get the picture?.Our society is driven by GREED. But it is no different that past civilizations in that regard. The only difference is the tactics they use to accomplish their desire for wealth and power.
Satan's four hidden dynasties (that he controls) are here on Earth, they are: The Economy,Education,Political, and Religion. You have asked a question concerning two of those four.Need I go further?.

Businesses would love to operate twenty four seven without missing a beat. However, it is the employed who allow them to overwork and underpay. If american workers would stand up and say enough, and strike, business would have to listen. It has worked in the past in America, Poland, and other places. But as long as people take it, they will keep dishing it out!

Wow, who do you work for, Ebenezer Scrooge and Company? Every company I've worked for took Christmas off. My current employer also gave us Christmas Eve off this year since it fell on a Monday (usually it's only Christmas Day).

Look! It is your choice if you want to work or not! You do not have to do anything you do not want to do! If you do not think your job is treating you the right way then you should get another one. Nobody is forcing you to work on Christmas. If money and your career is that important to you, then perhaps working on Christmas is what you should do.

corporate America loves Christmas, it's the wanton spendfest that fuels them.
As for the government, our humble Christan president that takes his direction directly from his "heavenly father" didn't have a single item in the whitehouse relative to the nativity.

No, they want you to spend as much of your hard earn money as you possibly can for it. This is the whole reason for the fabricated "War on Christmas" by people who are corporate mouthpeices pretending to be concerned talk-radio citizens

in a word, profit.
not to put too fine a point on it, but the average worker in the US gets 13 vacation days per year compared to Japan and Korea with 25 vacation days and Europe with UK @ 28 and Italy with 42 vacation days.
clearly they want to maximize the labor bucks.
