Look up the code of Laws for your State. For example I'm an in SC and it is listed under SC Code Of Laws and then a sections regarding daycare and child care centers. Try using your States web site. Good Luck. I'm a paralegal by the way.

The rules vary from state to state (and in some cases from county to county). Your best bet is to call around to local child care centers, posing as a parent, and ask them what their caregiver-to-child ratio is. If you ask "Isn't it illegal for a caregiver to be watching that many children?" they'll probably be able to quote you chapter and verse what the local requirements are.
