How do I get songs off of my ipod if I'm not syncing it?

This is probably a really easy answer, but I'm not sure how to do it. I have an ipod nano and I'm not syncing it with itunes. But how do I get songs off of it if it's not being synced?

you can't. you manage the content on the ipod w/iTunes.

You cannot take songs off of your ipod, only put them on
