and NE can't do better than homefield in the AFC...

why don't the Patriots just clear the bench and let NY win on Sat. since NE can't get a higher seed anyway?

NEP can't get lower than a 1 seed regardless of what happens on Sat.

great logic
but to answer: because the Giants aren't idiot Patriot fans like some people who post on here.

have an excellent day

It's not the Giants responsibilty to ruin New England's season. They have a playoff game next week to worry about and NE has an extra week off.

Burress can barely walk and Jacobs got hurt again last week. Shockey is already done for the season.

As a Giants fan, I don't want to see any of those guys playing; I could give a crap if NE wins 42-3 because it doesn't mean anything. I'm glad the players WANT to play, but they have to do the smart thing here.

Like Bulldog said, the Pats don't gain any position from this game either, it's not about that, it's much bigger than that. Pats are trying to accomplish football greatness and the Giants are their final obstacle. You're looking at this from a December 2007 point of view. Think of it more as a historic game, either way, if the Giants win, they will spoil the "perfect season" if the Pats win, they would have accomplished something special. Regardless, it's a game that will be remembered for many decades to come. Go Giants!!!!

I am an Eagles fan and I'll be cheering for the Giants no doubt. I think everybody would agree with me that Pats fans got annoying already. I live in Los Angeles and we have no football team and all of a sudden I see more patriots fans than Raiders fans. Plus if Giants win this will go down in the history books as one of the biggest upsets ever

Because NFL teams love playing spoiler. That's like asking a team not in the playoffs to lose to a better team so that team can have a better playoff seed. To stop a team from going 16-0 in the regular season would be the ULTIMATE spoiler. I don't know that the Giants have much of a chance, but they're going to fight. Hard.

The smart thing to do is take the knee and give rest their starters, but whether NYG will do that or not remains to be seen... If they play their starters and beat the Pats, it would:
1) Make others reevaluate them
2) Put fear into the Pats if they meet in the Superbowl
3) Rise in other's estimation as 'the team that stopped the perfect season'
What will they do? Wait 48 hours and see :o)

if the Giants rest the starters and then lose in the wild card round of the playoffs no one is going to remember the 08 Giants BUT if the Giants topple the Patriots then they'll go down in history as the ones that felled the unbeatable, unstoppable Patriots. Why rollover and just give them unbeaten?

1) Can't respect a team that lays down for a game.
2) See The Colts of 2005-2006 season. Didn't play a meaningful game for a few weeks and then couldn't turn it back on when it counted in the postseason. Lost to Pittsburgh. If your on a roll - then keep on rockin.

N.E. can't get a higher seed neither. What's the point of the question?

Players are paid to play. And this is the chance for 3rd stringers and the practice squad to show off.

That would be great, but I'd much rather see New England destroy the Giants much like every other NFC East team.
