It could have been Musharraf, it could have been al-Qaeda, it could have been some random Bhutto-hater with a bomb acting independently. Either way, the person who did it deserves to be brought to justice as soon as possible.

Musharraf could be behind Bhutto's murder, but so could different extremist Islamic groups that have threatened her. A radical Islamic group took credit for Bhutto's assassination (though the report and/or the group's claims could be untrue), her political party had enemies, her family had many enemies, the elections were approaching, and she was an educated woman leader in a country that had areas of it that are violently hostile towards women and religious minorities.

The latest BBC article reports that Pakistani television released photos of two assassins, one suicide bomber and one gunman, with conflicting government officials and her party leaders stating the bombing killed her and two bullets killed her: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7164968.stm

I think the gov't did it. The election were coming up...jan 8th. She had the lead in the polls. Everybody knows the Musharraf won't do anything to stop Al-Queda. Bhutto wanted to, so they may have a hand in it as well. Very tragic event.

The Islamic extremists from the tribal areas are a possibility. Bhutto had just said that if elected, she would crack down on them.
The Inter-Services Intelligence agency is another likely source of suspects. They had ties to the Taliban and the extremists fighting India over Kashmir, they might consider her a threat to their ambitions.
Musharraf has to be considered a suspect as well, he might have lost to her if she hadn't been killed. He may still lose.

there have been comments that Bhutto's deadly wound grew to become right into a effect of being shot. Suicide bombers frequently do no longer decrease back up their bombing assaults with a sniper. It grew to become into probably Musharraf.

I went to school with Benazir!
in those days she was called PINKY BHUTTO !! a daft nickname !!! but she was a fun sort of person very ambitious and always a leader!
she was a lovely girl even back then ,so full of life and always a leader.
In later life she was a great visionary and twice leader. Her poor family has suffered so much.
I am proud to have known her,may she rest in peace.
God bless Benazir.(Benazir zindabad)
Who knows who it was???,whoever they were!!! they are cowards, and scum this isnt ISLAM!
Islam isnt about killing women!
Whoever it was may they be cursed forever, and THEIR families cursed100 fold, and may they rot in hell.
Also not forgetting the other innocent people who were also killed today for no reason their lives just snuffed out for no reason their families torn apart in grief all this before a New year.
I would like to extend my condolences and may there be peace in Pakistan, there has been enough blood shed may 2008 be peaceful no matter what religion!

Walk to the store or ride a bike in memory of Bhutto. Energy independence will bring peace to all of us on Earth as well as in the hereafter.

I think Musharraf had more to gain by her being alive in that if he could get her to ally with him on key issues, her supporters would not be protesting.

Look at it now; Pakistanis are protesting in great numbers today.

No. Look at it like this. She was a powerful woman who had a very good chance of being elected. Al-queda and other extremist groups hate women and she would have been more democratic and they also hate democracy
