I know the size of the apple tree is givven by the rootstock, but if I were to plant an aple tree from seeds, which type would most lickely give a tall tree?

I agree that Wolf River is one of the larger varieties but you can't grow any specific varieties from seed. All apples are hybrids. They do not breed true as two varieties are needed for pollination.

Wolf River. That apple tree grows to 50 feet producing 2 and 3 pound apples.
