My issue is:
when i secured my wireless network (through the linksys easy link advisor) i cannot connect to the network through my other wireless computers. However, if i goto the linksys router information website (192.168.1.1) and unsecure the network, i cannot connect. The message i receive is either "limited or no connectivity" or "Can connect to the router, but no internet connection avalible". Since i can connect while it is unsecure, the issue does not have to do with the internet provider. I have entered the web key exactly as written and re-entered it.. over.. and over...i have used various programs such as, linksys easy link advisor (given with the router) an online connection program given from the linksys site, and i have even tried connecting through the windows system (finding a network then entering the key) i can sometimes get connectivity if i power juggle the router and the road runner modem, but that is time consuming and very agrvating. Anyone have a solution?

You are definitely on the right path - probalbly a few steps that you either missed or glossed over.

Always configure the router via a wired connection. I recommend that you copy and paste whenever you enter a preshared key. Often I create the password in Notepad and save it in a network shared folder and then copy and paste it to make sure I did not mess up the key.

Also check the MAC address validation. If this is activated (and it should be) you MUST be sure to enter the MAC address of the wireless ports in the router's list of acceptable MAC addresses. If you satisfy the WPA or WPA2 conditions fully and have MAC validation active and did not properly enter MAC addresses you will not connect. If you are unsure of the MAC addresses of the wireless devices you wish to use, go to the device, open command prompt (start, run - type in cmd and hit enter) and at the prompt type in "ipconfig /all" without quotes and hit enter. You will see a lot of data for all ports (wired and wireless), ip addresses, etc. Be sure to select the wireless port and you will see the MAC address, called "physical address" listed as a string of 12 characters. Some routers want you to enter the number in pairs separated by a : while others want the MAC address to be just entered as 12 characters run together. Keep the wired pc connected in case you need to go back to it.

Now after the MAC address is entered in the router list, the encryption is matched, and the preshare key entered in router is entered in a specific wireless pc, go to the wireless pc and in command prompt, type in "ipconfig /all" and hit enter. If you have connectivity in the wireless port, it should have an IP address in the format 192.168.1.x for the subnet you indicate you have, a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, and a default gateway of 192.168.1.1 and this means you are connected and permitted. If this does not happen, in command prompt, enter "ipconfig /release" and after you get a prompt again, enter "ipconfig /renew" and then at the next prompt enter "ipconfig /all". If you do not have an IP address there is a config problem either on the wireless port config or on the router. Recheck the MAC validation and the encryption and preshare key and make sure both are the same. I often have the wired pc and wireless next to each other when I do this to make sure I do not make an error. I also have the wireless router in the same room so I do not have a signal block issue. Be persistant and you will succeed.

Finally If you are still stuck, start another question telling us what you did and saw, especially with the command prompt issues.

When you go to the router setup page - what type of security are you selecting? WEP or WPA?
Try working just with the router setup pages, 3rd party software can sometimes be the cause rather than the cure.
What is your OS? what encryption does it support? do the 2 match?
Have you tried:
Resetting the router (using the button in the back?)
then setting it up again from the setup pages using your web browser? (You MUST do this using a cable)
Going to the Linksys web site and checking/downloading the latest firmware?
Called Linksys tech support?
