The good: no state/local income tax; decent weather (but after a few years of year-round sunny, sweaty days, it gets boring). If you're looking to buy a house/condo, you can get a terrific bargain because Miami is one of the worst hit cities in this real estate bust.

The bad: rude narcissistic people, even ruder and dumber drivers, high auto insurance, high property taxes (tho I think the state government is working on that issue), and yes, the hurricanes.

The town as a whole is slow and behind the times. The public transportation stinks and the school system is even worse (if that matters to you.) Don't think that by moving down here you will be living in a lively, happening town.

First the bad: homeowner's insurance, hurricanes.
The good: no income tax, the beaches, year round sports, slower pace of living compared to big cities. You can find a city to fit whatever lifestyle you're interested in. Check out the local newspapers for the towns you're interested in to get a flavor of the area as well as the job and housing situations.
