I got this from Simply Recipes:
* Need help figuring out how big a turkey to get? Butterball has a turkey calculator that helps you figure out just how many pounds you need. In general, plan for:
12-15 lb turkey for 10-12 people
15-18 lb turkey for 14-16 people
18-22 lb turkey for 20-22 people
I was thinking that wouldn't be enough for the amount of people you are having. But it also depends on how many side dishes you have or how much each person eats. If you feel that would not suit your dinner party, I would get a canned ham as another main dish and it's not too hard to bake. Top with pineapples and cherries.

Realisticly, a ten pound turkey will feed about 3-4 people without much leftover. No way 9 people unless they are all small eaters. I have a family of 4, and for Thanksgiving I cooked a 22 pound Turkey. On Turkey Day we pigged out and had enough leftovers for 3 days of sandwiches and the small bits went into Turkey soup. A good dish that is filling to add to your table can be either Lasagna,Enchalidas, or you can even do a Chicken alfredo pasta. Also have plenty of desserts, pies, cakes... The kids love the chocolate fountains.
Have a great party!

Yah I'll say. Last Thanksgiving, we had a 10 lb turkey, and it lasted us 2 servings. By the way there were 10 of us.

It all depends on what kind of turkey your bird is. If it is full breasted it should adequately feed 9 people. Make plenty of stuffing and load that bird as much as you can. That plus mashed potatoes, gravy, and a couple of vegetables and you can feed that army with plenty to spare.

A 10 pounder is kind of a small bird for 9 people. Depending on if they are big eaters or not, I would supplement it with something else. Maybe a small ham or something...

You could make a half a ham or some chicken or some other food to make sure you have enough food! Happy Holidays!

I think that is plenty. If you want to cook a little hen too or chicken that would be ok just in case. But I think you have plenty!!

Will depend on on the context really. Which is better as a snack - fruits to me. It's tastier and gives you that little bit of sweetness. Which can be better as a snack if you are trying hard to lower back on sugar and lose weight vegetables
