I've been trying to hard not to get a cold this winter but I failed... My immune system sucks as it is, and now that I'm pregnant it's even worse... I'm 20 weeks pregnant and really sick. Really stuffed up, sneezing, coughing like crazy, dizzy spells, feeling nauseous. I just want to make sure the baby is okay, I get this a lot I'm used to it... But if it's hurting the baby I'm NOT okay with that. Help?!

I had the flu while pregnant with my first, and Strep Throat while pregnant with my second (I carried during the winter months both time). Pile yourself into bed, force fluids, eat healthfully, and don't take any medications. Call your doctor for more advice on how to care for yourself while sick during pregnancy (there are safe remedies, although they aren't really helpful). Hang in there!

Baby is safe in there, completely oblivious to your cold. I was sick a lot during my pregnancy, I had a never ending cold on top of incerdible heart burn! As long as you're not running a fever, you're ok. If you start to run a fever or you're feeling really short of breath, call your OB. That's what they're there for. If anything, the doctor will put your worry at ease.

Good luck and congrats on the baby!!

Your baby is fine, just because you get sick doesn't mean that your baby is getting sick or that you are hurting or putting the baby in harm at all. If it is bothering you that badly go talk to your Dr. about it and maybe he can give you something to make you a little more comfortable but the baby is just fine as long as you are still feeling it move once a day.

Go to a doctor right away. They'll tell what to do and how to help the baby. Don't take any cold medications until asking your doctor. That could harm the baby. Just stay warm and inside and eventually it will go away. That's what happened with me. I didn't take medicine, but my cold went away after a while.

Your baby is fine. Check with your OB on what meds you can/can't take. Use saline spray to clear your nose. It's just salt water, it won't harm the baby.

if your worried call your doctor I am the first to admit I am a high matinance pregnant woman!! So I always called my dr my baby is the most important thing to me as I can see the same is with you. If your dr is like mine they will not mind the call. they will also be able to let you know what you can take to ease the pain. Good luck

a cold will not hurt the baby, but being pregnant and sick is miserable. keep well hydrated, get lots of rest, and call your dr for a list of safe medications. good luck!
