How big they get will depend a little on their genetics, your tank size, and regular tank maintenence. They have the potential to get 2" (males) to 2.5 inches (females) but if they're overcrowed or have poor water quality, they may not reach the full size.
They really aren't a schooling fish. You can keep as few as one, to dozens (in a large enough tank) and they'll feel at home. If you get males and females, though, expect them to reproduce - and often! Females can give birth on an average of every 28days. If you don't want to deal with fry, you can keep a tank of only males.
They come on a variety of colors and patterns. A true "green" is unusual, but there is a color called green, which is more of a turquoise. A good place to see the colors and patterns available (and more than you'll see at a pet store) is on Aquabid: http://www.aquabid.com/ in the guppy section.

Do they come in solid colors, for example can they just be green with no spots or any other color on them? And is this rare?

They get to around 2.5".
Yes, they school/shoal, but they need to be kept in a ratio of 2 or 3 females per male.
I suppose they can come in a single block colour, but most fancy guppies (like all linebred fish) will be bred for their colour.
I've no idea how rare it is.

guppies come in all colors i like them all and the biggest they get is about like the finger where your dumb is, i hope i spelled this right, and they come in solid colors to, i had purble once and they multiply fast, but the adults eat the babys up fast unless you take them out of the tank and put them in another or you can buy a net that goes on your tank and put the babys in there till there bigger, it used to be rare to have a solid color but i dont know now, i had them a long time ago,

ive seen a guppy reach 2.5 inches. they do school, with some fish "scouting" for danger. the only full color i can think of is the "all red" guppy, which is one of the most popular strains in the hobby today.it is a highly prized color variety.

The babies could have any combination of any of the colours that any of the males in the tank have. So if you have a blue and a red the the babies could be blue and/or red plus any colour the mother carried.
