I did in 2 days, but I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. It's a lot of driving for long periods and taking short naps here and there in the car.
A better way is to allow a good nights rest in between long driving times and take at least 3 days.

Keeping at a mild but pleasant pace, I would say about 4-5 days. If you want to enjoy the stretch through the Rockies, I would recommend spending about 5-6 days.

I drove through Redding in northern CA last year, and there was a ton of road work and delays. I'm not sure if that is still there but If I were you I might want to check the California Department of Transportation just in case.

Well, how fast does your car go? LOL At about 2300 miles, MapQuest says about 32 hours driving time. When we travel like that, the only time we stop for any length of time is to sleep - you don't want to get there and be all cranky and frazzled and stuff.

If you have a laptop, take it with you so you can keep in touch with us!

Given that I used to live in Northern California and drove to a variety of of places from there...I'd say 4 days comfortably.

I wish you well Linz.

Use MapQuest -- they've got an online doohickey that will calculate approximate travel times...

That having been said, you can probably do about 700-1,000 miles a day, depending on how fast you're willing to drive and whether you want to do any sightseeing along the way...

BTW, Linz -- Good luck to you! It does my heart good to see someone else risk it all like that....

Took us 5 days I think to get from here to Ohio when I was a kid. But we did a bunch family vacation crap along the way. You could probably do it faster.
