We bought it for our son last year and everyone in the house plays it. Wii sports is fun and it comes free with the console. You can also get used games at gamestop for a good price. We actually spend alot time creating Mii's and checking out Mii's created by people all over the world. We just got Guitar Hero...Tons of fun!!!!!
Happy Gaming!

Franni,

It really depends on what you like to do and the type of games you like to play.

I honestly only bought the Wii console because I just happened to be in a store right at the time they happened to get a shipment in. Knowing it was a "hot" item in short supply, I grabbed one intending to give it to grandbabies for christmas. But after buying it, mommy said no, that babies were too young for video games, so I decided to keep it for grandbabies and company to play at our house.

Our adult friends and family have been having an absolute blast with it, but even more suprisingly, my husband and I are having even more fun playing it ourselves--and we're in our 50s! Oh, and mommy changed her mind about grandbabies getting a Wii because after playing with ours, they went home and told her if they couldn't have one they were moving in with us. No need for such drastic measures though, I found another one for them for Christmas--bought 5 altogether for other friends and family members who were having a hard time tracking them down at the stores.

The Wii was designed and geared more for the "casual" player, not for the hard-core gamer interested more in high-tech, sophisticated role playing type games that they can fully immerse in. The Wii has a few games like that, but also has games which can be enjoyed by all age groups and people with different interests, offering a wider variety of different types of games, such as; sports, music, dancing, puzzles, board-type games, brain teasers, etc. Most of the Wii games also have a lower learning curve so you can jump right in without having to spend hours first just learning how to operate the controls.

As far as whether it's worth it for YOU personally though, only you can make that determination.

Yeah - we got Wii for Christmas for our uncle and he's in his 50's. We all played the Wii with him - from my 10 year old neice to my 83 year old Memaw. It was a blast.

You should try it - good fun!

Fun to watch people play them in the store.
