Me and my future wife are looking to move to California. Can some one please tell us where it is nice and beautiful and safe to live? Anywhere in California is fine we want to be in the sun and live in a really nice community. Please help.

My favorite parts of Ca are the Bay ARea and San Diego. But I am biased, I grew up in the Bay Area and currently live in San Diego. San Diego is one of the safest big cities in America; safest city over 1 million and 5th safest over 500,000. The scenery is really great here with the ocean, bay, mountains, valleys, canyons, ect... The climate is close to perfect, very sunny and always a comfortable temperature and never too hot or cold near the coast. It's usually sunny and somehwere between 65-80 year round. Doesn't rain that often or have high humidity either. It's very laid back and a pleasant place to live.

The Bay Area is a very scenic place to live with the mountains, hills, bay, ocean, and views of SF and it's bridges. I grew up there but am still amazed at it's beauty everytime I drive across the Golden Gate Bridge. It's not as warm or sunny in San Francisco but if you live a little farther inland in a suburb its significanty warmer and sunnier. The winters are cool and rainy but no snow and it's not that bad, just not as warm or nice as San Diego.

But both of these places are very expensive but worth it in my opinion.

California is a beautiful, but dangerous state. I was born there, grew up there, and was a cop ther until I married and we had kids, then I moved to a much better state, where it is safe to raise kids.
If I had to live in California, depending on what I wanted, I would try the susanville area in northern califronia. Good hunting, and nice people, lower crime etc. Any part of california is expensive, with some being out of reach for the middle class. I love it along the coast, but again, that's prime real estate and very pricey places to live. Pismo beach, Morrow bay and watsonville are nice. Of course the farther north you go, the colder the water temps and winters are more harsh. If money is no object, Newport beach, Laguna beach, dana pointe, santa cruz are all nice. Places like Ventura and Oxnard are nice if you own a boat and they have great harbors and direct access to the channel islands, but there is getting to be a pretty big population of illegals and migrant workers there, with the related gangs and crime. But then, you will find that everywhere in California, with just a few exceptions.
Good luck, and enjoy the earthquakes in mid, and southern california.

Napa. Seriously. You do not have to be rich to live here. The weather's great, even in the winter to me. Beautiful scenery, low crime, great food and wine, good schools, great entertainment and culture, a stone's throw from SF, there's no place I'll ever live in again. Even the traffic is pretty tame here.

There are a couple gangs (which isn't bad for a city of 60-some thousand) but if you don't live in the bad neighborhoods, you'd never know they were there.

Beverly Hills/Belair/Malibu/Orange County - top of the line areas
Carmel is a great place in northern California, partially secluded amazing scenery, not far from San Francisco
Hollywood hills/west hollywood are nice
I wouldn't recommend living directly in the city
Rent is very expensive compared to other regions of the country
Hope this is some help

I hope you guys make a lot of money. The average house here is $500,000 and that is in a scary neighborhood.
Mission Viejo, CA was ranked as the safest city in the U.S. Irvine, Sunnyvale, Thousand Oaks, Santa Clara and Simi Valley are also safe places. Typically if the town has enough money to hire police than it is a nice place.
