I can sleep as much as 15 hours and still be dozing off at my desk. I'm 23 years old and not pregnant. I've gone to the doctor and had blood tests done and they could not find anything. I dropped 60 pounds in 2 months without trying to lose weight. (I was 185lbs at 5'7" which was a bit overweight.) Doctors gave me anti-depressants which I don't need. I am not depressed, I live a simple quiet life in the country, only work 5 hours a day and have no real financial oligations that would cause me stress. Still, I go to bed early, sleep in late and can't keep my head from bobbing at random times in the day. Any ideas?

Sounds like you may have an Iron deficiency, you may want to have a blood test done.

Ok - dropping 60 lbs in 2 months is NOT GOOD - you need to find a new doctor PRONTO! Going by your figures, you're 5'7" and now weigh 125 lbs. - something's majorly wrong - are you eating??? Just because you don't "think" you're depressed doesn't mean you aren't - depression comes in all forms, and isn't necessarily caused from stress. Have the doctors tested you for any type of cancer or blood disease? If you are anemic it could be causing your sleepiness and could be a warning sign of something much more serious (internal bleeding, liver problems, etc.). Go get a 2nd opinion and demand they find out what's causing this before it's too late to do anything about it!

have you been tested for mono? Eating right? (a lot of our energy comes from what kind of food we eat) Sometimes when you sleep too much at night, you're often tired during the day. Try to set an alarm so that you only sleep about 9 hours, when you wake up, get some coffee in you and try to keep busy so that you aren't bored and fall asleep.

Im guessing your a women and probably a hot one bc your from the South and is a slim 125lbs. I can't help you with your problem, but I did save 15% on my car insurance by switching to Geico. Oh you should probably go to Princeton Hospital in New Jersey (I know you hate us northerns, but we are good people) and talk to Dr. House, first you'll get worse then you'll think your getting better and then you will die and the House saves you. He is a little sarcastic and pops a lot of pills but he is the Sherlock Holmes of Medicine.

I was doing this and lost weight and was looking very tan and the dr diagnosed me with addisons disease.I have to take a steroid a day everyday for the rest of my life. Now i can actually move around and do things. Before it felt as though i couldnt even take a shower.I would sit to take it.
They have to take your blood before 7 am in morning to catch it because your hormones change after that...They took my blood at wrong time of day before and it messed things up.

well i can relate to you I'm 24 and i have to make myself stay wake, get out of bed and not lay down. some people have a body that tells them to do it, or that your tired all the time. i could sleep 13-16 hours and lay back down and sleep all night, i have two kids and couldnt stay awake long enough to spend time with them, they tried everything to help me, took a sleep test and they found that i sleep at a really deep state for no reason its just how deep my body falls asleep and when that happens you dream at a high volume which will casue you to feel like you havent slept at all. so even if you dont have nothing to do, get up set a few alarms to keep you up and dont lay down it will help stop sleeping so deep and in time will build your body up to withstand it, yeah they want to give you medicain to help but im not a person to take it, so i made them figure it out and not just give me a script of pills.. hope this helps, just try to controll your over active mind by downing it with things before you go to bed..

Funny you should ask. These guys wrote this book that says we are *supposed* to sleep alot in the winter, and artificial lighting, and carbohydrates, mess that up. They think that spending life in eternal spring (or summer) messes us up and makes us more prone to heart attack, cancer, etc.

It still seems like a concern if you lost 60 lbs without trying and can't stay awake after sleeping 15 hours.

Maybe try to lessen your sleep. The average adult only needs 7 hours of sleep. If you get too much sleep, you could get too sleepy.

I'm not quote sure about the losing weight thing. Maybe you're having a healty diet.

Stop the anti-depressants and try to take some vitamin B12. I was overweight and over-tired even after I lost the weight. My co-worker told me to take some vitamin B and it give you a healthy pick-me-up. OR get checked for thyroid troubles.

Try Rhodiola Rosea (Siberian Golden Root). It's completely gotten rid of my chronic fatigue problems. You can buy it from health food stores or over the 'net.

Make sure you get the Rosea variety though......that's the one that's performed most effectively in clinical trials.

Hope you feel better soon.

ps - if you feel depressed try taking 5htp (hydroxytryptophan). Safe, non-addictive and works better than antidepressants.
