iTunes works only with Apple Brand "iPod" players.

MP3 players work with other services, like Napster, etc.

Functionally they are very similar. Apple players work only with Apple Software, and Apple Software works only with Apple Players. Other software works with a variety of players.

I, personally, have a Creative Labs MP3 player, and love it. Don't get caught up in the "name". Apple isn't all that great a name anywhere but in the MP3 market, anyway, and even there they're losing ground to Microsoft and others.

If you get some other brand of MP3 player and download a bunch of music from some service like Napster, and then 2 years from now buy another player, the music will still work. If you buy an iPod and download music from iTunes, and then 2 years from now you decide to buy a Microsoft player, or some other brand, none of your iTunes music will work. That's the kind of company Apple is.

An ipod is a name brand mp3 player. So itunes will probably only work with apple ipod products. You may get more help if you pose a question and give the name of the brand mp3 player that you have, that way others with that same kind can help you. As a general rule of thumb though, most mp3 players appear as drives when you plug them into your computer (look in mycomputer and click folders) so you can usually just drag and drop music that way.

YEP. MP3 players and iPod are the exact same. The only difference is the price, the brand and the variety. IPods are made by Apple and are way more expensive. You can find a wide variety of mp3 players (most of which are better and have more features than iPods) for better prices. Personally I think iPods are just a fad.
You can get music for mp3 players the same way as you get music for iPods. You don't need a special program to transfer songs either, just plug it in, right click on the song you've selected and send it to your mp3 player.
Hope this helps :)

If you don't have an iPod, chances are iTunes won't recognize it. Try downloading rhapsody or yahoo music or napster.

iTunes/iPods use a different format for the music files than MP3. Music purchased off iTunes will only work on an iPod. You can convert iTunes music to MP3, but if your technically challenged it's probably to much trouble.

Most non-iTunes services use protected mode WMA file format. Those files won't work on an iPod.
