There are two bands which appear to be heavily influenced by one of my lesser-discussed favorites of all time, The Jesus & Mary Chain. I can’t decide which one I like best. The first group is The Raveonettes, who actually named one of their albums Chain Gang of Love. If that doesn’t scream of love for the “Chain”, I don’t know what else would. The second band is Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Master C - If I were a betting man, I would have lost a bundle. You seemed to have BRMC written all over you. That should be a fun show.

BC - I think you'd be correct. :) And yes, we would need that post-noise pop genre to compliment the post-shoegazers.

Deke - Your secret is safe with me, lol.

Darth Maul – You’re right in that there’s a fair amount of Love & Rockets in BRMC. I didn’t quite get The Stray Cats vibe. I don’t recall Brian Setzer ever employing that much distortion.

Mike - Of course, I had to leave Jack Blades out of the discussion since he'd win by default every time.

SJG - No YouTube at work? That's an outrage! :)

OK, the people have spoken, it's gotta be BRMC. :)

I'm leaning towards BRMC myself - not just for the music, but for channelling Jim and William Reid's hair, circa 1992. That first shot of a guitar is almost straight out of a JAMC video...

Look, you're trying too hard. Your homophobic, we get that, and that's fine. It's OK to be uncomfortable with something you don't understand or agree with, that alone doesn't make you a bad person. You see, we live in a society where the basis of law is that nothing should be illegal between two consenting adults. There are limits to this as imposed by law in regards to plausible doubt (such as not killing even with consent because there is no way to confirm it post mortem), but these only apply to things where bodily harm or death can occur. If you want to be a homophobe, be a homophobe. It isn't a dirty word, and it isn't even a bad thing. Just realize that acting on your homophobia, and trying to round up a group of unassuming dupes to support you, is a crime in many countries. In fact, if you were trying to get a group of fully enlightended atheists together they would acknowledge that bigot, homophobe, and f_ggot are only words, and they are perfectly valid descriptors. Again, stop hiding your goal here, just come out and admit that you want to form a group of people who hate homosexuals.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

Their first 2 BRMC albums really do have the JAMC sound similar to the Psychocandy and Automatic albums. The last 2 blended much more old school blues than JAMC did on their studio albums.

Barbed Wire Kisses has that Bo Diddley sound William and Jim was inspired by on a few cuts. This influence shows up on Baby 81' and Howl for BMRC.

I think Mike and Another Day Another Vedetta already put My Thoughts into words for Me.

Not My type of music, but I thought the first band had a ring of Your namesake..LoveNRockets as well as the Jesus & Mary Chain
And the ravonettes...sound like the love child of the Jesus & Mary Chain and the Stray Cats

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club for me.. That's a really awesome song. The Raveonettes didn't appeal to me at all, I just wasn't feeling it.

Having only heard those songs, I choose Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Which one do you think would appeal to me the most?..hmmm
:)

You guessed it, The Raveonettes won me over with the
"Beat Generation" reference :) I still love the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, though.

I don't think I can answer this fairly because of the prospect of seeing The Raveonettes live in a couple weeks. So my personal bias and excitement for shows in general are probably making me lean in that direction. But, I think they are both pretty good nonetheless.

I love The Jesus and Mary Chain, but I think you know that already. :)

I'm kinda liking The Raveonettes more, uh-oh... are they going to be the start of the "Post-Noise Pop" genre? hehe.
