Yes indeed. I have one very loyal and fantastic friend that is the best friend one could ever ask for. We've been friends for 25 years. We too have been through a lot together. But unfailingly she has always been there for me, as I have been there for her. She is so thoughtful and does the nicest things for me on a regular basis. She is someone I know I can depend on that will always be there no matter what happens. She's not that" fair weather" type of friend who is only there for the easy times. She's honest, caring and gives without measuring what she's getting back. A few years back I lost my home during a storm and I had to move away for almost 2 years before I could move back home. No matter where I was ( or the distance) she came to encourage me and always stuck by me. If ever a best friend deserves a reward, it's her!

I've had the same best two friends since Jr. and high school. We have all done bad things to and for each other. Cling to each other and drifted apart more time than I can count but I don't doubt for a second that in two phone calls anytime day or night, I could have whatever I needed-no questions asked. We joke about this saying all the time: "Friends will help you move. Real friends will help you move a body."
That kind of sums it up doesn't it?

I am fortunate enough to have at least two of these friends in this world. I have known Brooke since I was 5 years old and she has been there for me through thick and thin, even when I made very bad mistakes that sometimes hurt her. She thinks the world of me and makes me feel good about myself when I start to feel bad. Brian is my other best friend (and hers too) and he is absolutely the most loyal, thoughtful friend I've ever had. He drove three hours on a work night to bring me roses and take me to eat a meal when my boyfriend at the time broke my heart and moved out. He once drove about 3 hours to Cincinnati to pick up my then-girlfriend to bring her to a party that I was really bummed she wouldn't be able to attend (didn't have a car at the time). He has supported me through all of my decisions, bad and good.

I had a friend who appeared to be sticking by me no matter what for many years. All the while he was plunging a knife into my back over and over again. Since then, I haven't really put anyone into the position of being able to stick by me or not stick by me.

Yes, that friends name is "myself"...I have learned that no matter how long you have known a person or what all you have gone through together, everyone has an underlining agenda. And just once of stepping in the way of this "friends" turn on you...

I say be your own best friend and fill in with other people where you are slacking....

Yes I have - he's my husband. This great guy stuck by me through 15 family deaths, my breast cancer and breast reconstruction 6 years later, and last but not least: menopause. The man is a saint!

My one friend who I have known for 15 years. We've been through just about everything together. Arguments, bickering, bad relationships, divorce, deaths, financial hardships... and I'm sure there's more to come.
