That's life, but that doesn't mean you don't try. Always try your best even if you know you won't get the part because you can always catch the director's eye that you are a person with potential. That's one of the number one things that directors like in a person they cast, Potential! who knows you may still get the part, never give up! Just remember to be relaxed and have good stage presence. Practice, Practice, Practice!

Getting the main part would be nice, but if you think its a necessity you better look for another place to play.
Actors and models are always getting turned down for perfect parts or jobs. If your ego is so easily bruised this isn't the right place for you to set your sights.
You will get whatever you get, and if you get in that had better be good enough to carry you.
You might even get the part you want, even if you aren't the best that's what makes the business so maddening.
But if you can't roll with it, you will be miserable.

Be prepared. Know the show, know the role, and know your audition material as well as you can. I don't see why you think you NEED to have the lead... wanting it moe than anything is one thing, but need? OK, another thing is you should know that passion counts for a lot and preparation counts for even more. if that other person is great but unprepared, they may be left in the ensemble. It shows in auditions how much you prepare. Read the script over and over. Watch and clips you can find of the stage version, films if thats all you can find... anything you can get your hands on. Know the show and role better than anyone.
Also, know that the reason someone gets or doesn't get a role isn't always talent. It can be height, hair color, etc. Nothing to do with talent...
best of luck,
Marianne

Don't think that way about yourself. Just try out and be yourself.
GOOD LUCK!

just do your best, and think positively about yourself.
if you do your best and someone genuinely outperforms you, you shouldn't feel bad about anything, because you gave it your all.
