If you are lucky, you may be able to tell sex of the baby (if it is a boy) at week 12 but there is a good chance of error. Our ultrasound technician tried her best to figure out sex of baby at 12 weeks, but she couldn't - baby was not cooperating. At week 18 ultrasound, we found out that it is a BOY!.

At 8 weeks, you will see the little alien with a beating heart. Cannot really make out much at all and definitely cannot tell sex of the baby at 8 weeks.

I've had ultrasounds every 2-3 weeks. Trust me you won't be able to tell what the baby is. At 7 weeks it was a little blob with a heartbeat. At 9 weeks, you could tell which end was the head and which was the butt with little arm and leg buds. At 12 weeks, you could see the baby way better, but still could not tell if it was a boy or girl. At 15 weeks, we found out it was a little boy! Our next ultrasound is tomorrow!

You won't be able to tell the sex at 8 weeks. I've never heard of anyone being able to tell the sex at 12 weeks. It is usually around 20 weeks before they can really tell on the ultrasound. I had an ultrasound at 10 weeks and really couldn't tell much at all. The baby is very small at this stage, but you can see the heartbeat.

Actually it is easier to tell if it is a boy, rather than a girl. At 12 weeks it sounds almost impossible to tell. The sex organs are not even really developed. Your baby may have been measuring ahead. Mine was measuring 16 weeks and a few days at 15 weeks and we could see it was a boy. At 8 weeks I saw my twins just about perfectly, you could see their arm buds and Little leg buds. They looked just like little peanuts. You should be able to hear the heartbeat also. Congrats.

At 8 weeks your baby is going to look like a peanut. Your not going to be able to tell what your having due to at 8 weeks it hasn't even formed yet. Your baby is going to look like a little blob with some little features. Sorry to burst your bubble but with my current preg. they have given me many ultrasounds starting at 3 weeks due to complications and then one a month since then and now at 16 weeks I still don't know what I'm having my Dr. says I won't find out til my next appt in Jan. when I'm 18 weeks. Good Luck

You should be able to see a peanut (thats what I thought it looked like....)12 weeks is really early, it's usually weeks 18-20 to see the sex of the baby, so I wouldn't count on it happening this time. Good luck and congrats!

no, it's easier to determine boy vs girl...& at 8 weeks there won't be much to see and i don't think you'll find out the sex...that generally takes up to 20 weeks. No i've never heard of anyone finding out @ 12 weeks ....good luck

The genitals dont form until week 13... its basic human developmental biology. Your US tech must have made a guess and been right. Lucky you!

You cannot tell at 8 weeks, all you see is a little bug. No arms or legs, just a fetal pole, tail, head and heart.
