why in India city names are changed, is there any thing like after some no. of yrs it has to be changed?

like Madras as Chennai, Banglore as Bengaluru ...is there any specific reason?

It may be whims and fancies to few people.
However the actual reason is to get back the original name.
The original Indian names were modified by English, French and Portugese people. Now we are restoring our old and original names. Nothing wrong in it.

Its time we should change the name our country INDIA to its original name - BHARAT BARSHA.

Former names were adopted by mispronunciations or distortion of the original name by the Europeans occupying India for years. Now they are being, you can say, corrected or restored by their original names. It's not only in India, you can see it in other parts too. Bangladesh capital changed it's former name Dacca to Dhaka as pronounced by the locals. In Saudi Arabia Mecca in changed to Makka.

The Indian names don't change. What changes is the way that westerners refer to them, because the previous approximations aren't accurate enough in today's politically correct world. Soon we'll all have to refer to the capital of France as Paree, if we're not careful.
