Its about 120 miles. Trains for Birmingham leave from London Euston (Virgin Trains to Birmingham New Street. Journey time 90 minutes), or London Marylebone (Chiltern Railways to Birmingham Snow Hill. Jourmey time 2 hours 15 minutes). The slower operator Chiltern has some very cheap deals including a £5 one way ticket booked on your mobile
phone or a £15 return on trains after 11am (some restrictions on times of return journey). www.chilternrailways.co.uk

About five hours by car and two by train.
It really does depend to which part of London you are going. It can take two hours to cross from one side to the other.
It's not the miles but the time it takes.

depends when you say "city" that the finical district of london. not the whole place. also you have to account for if it's south/east/west London.. just point the car to the M1 and ya good to go =)
use google earth, type in both postcodes in and you'll get the EXACT distance
