San Diego. There's a world-class zoo, Sea World, Lego Land and Wild Animal Park for the kids. Adults and kids alike will have fun at Balboa Park. It's a mix of museums, arboretums, parks and has a great view of the ocean from its hill top vantage point. In San Diego Bay you can tour the USS Midway which is now an aircraft carrier museum. Then there is Old Town San Diego and, of course, the beaches. Your friends will be envious when you come back from vacation with a tan in January.

All the above are great ideas, but I'd also like to make a pitch for the Washington, DC area. In addition to a richness of memorial, govenrment and historical buildings, Washington has the best museum complex in the area, a fantastic theatre/music scene (all kinds of music) and a great richness of things for kids to do (the Air and Space Museum all by itself is a great fascination for kids). It's a very safe and approachable city. Check out some of our podcasts on the city.

Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico? New York City? Las Vegas Baby! There are thousands of nice places to vacation in the US...what do you like to do? What do you find fun or beautiful? Do you want to see neon lights or a sky full of stars?

If you are looking for a family thing I would take Vegas out. Its not called sin city for nothing. California is beautiful. San Francisco and San Deigo both have alot to offer. New York City or Washington DC if you are into the arts. The mid or southwest if you more into nature. New Mexico and Texas are rich in tradition and natural beauty. But if you are looking for green you might want northern California or Washington State. Seattle is very nice.

Wow...I really like alot of places. Anywere here is good!

Depends on what you want to do and see.

Rocky Mountains of CO, WY, MT are nice. Camp in summer, ski in winter.

Atlantic coast southern states have beaches. Here in Myrtle Beach, SC there are 120+ golf courses if you're a golfer.

There are states with "Theme Parks", TX, FLA...

What do you want to do?

I would certainly vote for the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina.

I fell in love with the mountains and then moved here.
