Does anybody know about when a baby starts to hold their head up? Also my son has these red bumps on his face, head and right at his collar line. We are using everything hypoallergnic. And we have changed nothing on us either, any thoughts as to what it may be?

My son is a month and a half hold. He is trying to hold his head up but he can only do it for like 10 seconds at a time.

A baby will hold his head up usually around 2 months, although it will still be wobbly. We gave my son tummy time from very early on so he was holding his head wobbly but still up at just under a month. It's all in your baby's strength.
The tiny bumps might just be baby acne which is normal and will go away without doing anything. Ask your doctor anyway though.

Wipe his neck/face every time you change his diaper, the sugar in breastmilk / formula can cause the bacteria that causes pimples to flourish. And if it doesn't work at least his neck will be clean *lol*. Just use water though, soap would be too drying.

It depends what you mean by "up" I guess. Do you mean "up" when he is lying on his belly and lifting his head up to look around (aka the crawling position) or "up" when he is sitting. Or "up" when you are moving around and carrying him on angles etc.

I'd say in the sitting position there should be some head control by 1 month. By two months you shouldn't have to be terribly careful about how you hold the baby. 4 months or so if you are talking on their belly, because that takes a lot of neck strength to keep the neck that flexed.

Your son might start holding his head up within the next month or so. As for the red bumps, they are probably a very small heat rash. Be sure to bring these things up to your doctor the next time you visit with him, but unless they get worse, I wouldn't worry about them.

By 2 months a baby should hold their head up. Ask your doctor about the bumps. It could just be from clothes rubbing on his skin.

They usually can hold their head up pretty well by 3 mos. of age. the red bumps are baby acne (if you are breastfeeding), it's caused by your hormones going crazy and going in the milk. Don't put anything on them, it will go away around 2.5 - 3 mos. of age.
