It's annoying to see poor English. A few misspelled words here and there is OK, but when someone writes a sentence like, "Omg why are people so concern about peoples' spelling?" you just have to think to yourself, is this person smart enough to understand what I'm saying or am I wasting my time? Little hint, if you insist on using the moronic "omg," at least put concern in it's proper form.

Think of it another way, alright: A generation of young people who cannot spell or worse cannot create a sentence with proper grammar is not very comforting. The generation now will be the world of tomorrow, and with so freaking many kids not knowing how to spell or be grammatically correct is not condusive to a better tomorrow. Besides this, the bad grammar and spelling will not get corrected so decades later the former kids who grow up will be potentially even worse. So it is to YOUR advantage and the advantage of others to wake up and get a clue NOW... not when you're older and less willing to care and change. So bad spelling and grammar makes one look bad, and that can look bad when filing out an application, resume, or other important information. Knowing the proper things to fill them out is critical. Well, that's my lecture for you today.

Well, in some of the sites that I go to, such as social science sites in general, people have ideological concepts that they can not defend empirically. So, they need to nit-pick to feel better about their inability to reason. I am a poor enough speller to give them an occasional target.

This is not to excuse poor spelling, but just to set the priorities straight.

Yep, I agree. You know that a university did research that said that as long as the first and last letters are in a word, you can still understand what it is....

If I wanted to constantly be criticized over spelling, I'd go back to grammar school or something...

Okay people this is not grammar school as they used to call it!
This is just a fun place to ask and answer questions not a spelling test or a test on our grammar!
I thought this was just supposed to be a fun place to ask and answer questions, so why are so many of you taking all the fun out of it?
