"Forrest Gump".
I used to live in Birmingham, AL.
I like the view, people, and the southern hospitality. Every time I watch Forrest Gump, it reminds me those good old days.
(I'm currently live in California.)

Heck, this is a hard one to pin down as he is, in my opinion, one of our greatest living actors, along with Robert Deniro. I can not say just one, so allow me to list my favorite Tom Hanks movies.
Forrest Gump
Saving Private Ryan

As to why I rank him so hi, allow me to say that when he takes on a role, I genuinely forget the actor completely and see only the character he is portraying. When he can play any role out there and come off as believable, that makes him a great actor.

I like many Tom Hanks Movies. I really like the Green Mile, but I also like the one where he played the Kid that went to a carnival and turned into a Grown up. I can't remeber the name at the moment but it was very, very Sweet.
I seen it over on someone else's answer-Big.
He is incredible in the fact that he is truly touching in everything he has done so far.

Castaway, Joe vs. the volcano, Sleepless in Seattle, Saving Private Ryan, Volunteers (the movie where he met his wife), Big. I am a huge Tom Hanks fan.

Ahhhh! Tom Hanks! He's a terrific actor! Cast Away is probably my favorite. Joe and the Volcano was really good too. But, come to think of it, there aren't any of his movies that I don't like. I'd like to have a whole DVD collection of all his work.

I am not a big Tom Hanks fan, so i can't remember all the movies that he was in, but the only one that comes to mind that i have watched a lot and like is BIG and Sleepless in Seattle!

Forrest Gump because the story weaved together very hilariously Watergate, Vietnam, 70's , 80's very good and made light of some troubled times.. and made me laugh..
also liked castaway, Saving Private Ryan, and Apollo 13
