I mean what kind of career do ex-NFL players would end up having when they no longer play football.. I know some of them start their own business, be insurance or real estate brokers, goes into entertainment, or service business.. However, some of them end up on the wrong path and be criminals..

The smart ones have saved enough money where they probably dont have to rely on a job for survival. So they go into things like coaching (not serious level coaching), or perhaps they get a job somewhere behind the scenes in the NFL...

Other may just retire to a warm place and find a hobby to keep themselves going.

It really depends on how popular they were as a player.
A lot of the more famous players still make a pretty decent living signing autographs for sports cards companies like Upper Deck and Topps as well as signing memorabilia for retail and auctions.

They either get a job coaching, working for a network as an announcer for football games, or end up selling all kind of crap like Acme bricks, aluminum siding, storm windows, and fad diets.

Most of them actually retire and some because of injury. Some players cant even walk when they turn 50.

If they were smart, they would just move to Florida and live off the ridiculous amounts of money they earned in the NFL.

Coaching jobs. Some high schools in my area have 6 or more coaches, I imagine colleges may have more.
If they're a top name player they may have P.R. people that line up paying celebrity type gigs.
