If the dependent is your qualifying child, you should definitely file since you'd be eligible for an Earned Income Credit of around $1000. If you don't file, you won't get it.

Most definitely! I have begun preparing and already showing a very nice return this year. The morning they begin accepting efile I'M THERE! LOL! I would highly recommend filing and using the Earned Income Credit as well!

Definitely. I don't specialize in tax services, so you will have to check in your state, etc. But I would imagine you can claim Earned Income Credit for your dependent, which should result in a refund.
